Ajwain Partha Recipe | How to make Ajwain Paratha 

Ajwain or carom seeds is full of medicinal values. Ajwain seeds are used a lot in Ayurveda medicines, and it is supposed to be a very good medicine for indigestion. Ajwain paratha is an easy way to consume ajwain.

Apart from parathas, ajwain seeds are also be soaked in water overnight and consumed the ajwain water in morning. Consuming ajwain water daily morning keeps the stomach healthy. It treats indigestion.

Ajwain Paratha is quick, easy and healthy breakfast dish. The dough used in ajwain paratha is smooth just like done for regular parathas. Ajwain Paratha can be made by simply adding ajwain in the wheat flour while kneading the dough or it can be used as a light stuffing as well. When in hurry, i prefer to add ajwain in the flour while kneading.

Ingredients for Ajwain Paratha

  • Whole Wheat Flour : 2 Cups
  • Ajwain (Carom Seeds) : 30 - 40 grams
  • Gram Flour: 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee : 2 tsp
  • Vegetable Oil for pan frying the ajwain paratha
  • How to make Ajwain Paratha

    For plain ajwain paratha, mix the ajwain (carom seeds) in the wheat flour. Add salt in the flour. Knead a smooth dough using little water at a time. For making stuffed parathas with ajwain, do not add the carom seeds in the flour while kneading.

    To make ajwain plain paratha, divide the dough into small balls and roll them in round shape around 3 - 4 inches. Apply some ghee / oil in the center and seal the edges towards center. Dust the sealed dough and roll again in the round shape around 5 inches.

    Heat a tawa and place the rolled dough on it. when it starts changing color, flip the side and apply oil on top. Flip the side again and apply oil on this side as well. When brown spots appear, ajwain paratha is ready. Just fry for a little more time to make it crisp. 

    To make stuffed ajwain partha, roll the dough ball in round shape around 4 inches. Place 1/2 tsp of ajwain (carom seeds) at center and seal them by folding outer edges towards inside. Dust and roll again in round shape around 5 inches. Place on the hot tawa and when top starts changing color, flip the side. Apply oil on top and flip the side again. Apply oil on this side also and cook on,lower flames to make it crisp. Ajwain Paratha is ready.

    To make stuffed ajwain partha in a triangle shape.

    Serve Ajwain Paratha hot with tea or raita.
