Sabut Moong Dal or Whole Moong Dal is very nutritious. It is often mixed with rice to make Khichdi recipes. Whole Moong Dal can be cooked as a separate recipe to make a curry.
Whole Moong Dal tastes best if cooked in ghee. We can cook it in regular cooking oil and add ghee before serving.
Generally while cooking dal, first we pressure cook the dal and later add the tadka but in this recipe, whole moong dal is cooked in pressure cooker and prepared as a one pot curry recipe. It is required to soak the whole moong dal in water for 2 hours before cooking. If we do not soak the dal in water, it will take long time to cook completely and also taste will be compromised.

How to make One Pot Whole Moong Dal Curry
Wash whole moong dal and soak in water for 2 hours. Heat ghee in pressure cooker. Leave cumin seeds in it and allow it to crackle. Now add chopped onion and fry till it is translucent.
Now add ginger garlic paste along with turmeric powder, coriander powder. Add red chilli powder if you want. Mix well and cook till raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone.
Add chopped tomato and green chilli in it. Add salt and cook on low / medium flames till tomato is completely mushy.
Drain water from soaked moong dal and add it in pressure cooker. Add 2 cups water. Put lid on pressure cooker and cook for 2 -3 whistles on medium flames. Turn the flames off after 2 - 3 whistles. Do not hurry to open the lid, infect let the pressure cooker release the steam itself, open the lid later.
One pot whole moong dal curry is ready, Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with chapati / rice..
