Sattu Paratha recipe | How to make Sattu Paratha

Sattu Paratha is a recipe from Bihar. Very healthy and tasty Sattu paratha is quite unusual stuffed paratha. We have often made stuffed parathas with vegetables and dals. The stuffing used for these parathas is wet or paste kind but the stuffing used to make sattu paratha is quite dry. The stuffing prepared for Litti is quite similar to stuffing prepared to make sattu paratha. We can also use the same stuffing to make litti and sattu paratha.

Sattu paratha is very good for breakfast and lunch box. Here is the complete recipe to make sattu paratha.

Recipe Details : Sattu Paratha

Ingredients for Sattu Paratha

  • Wheat flour dough
  • Sattu powder : 4 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste : 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin Seeds : 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder : 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice : 1 tsp
  • Fresh Coriander : 1 tbsp
  • Oil/ Ghee : to fry paratha
  • How to make Sattu Paratha

    Knead wheat flour dough and keep aside.

    In a bowl or plate, mix sattu powder with ginger garlic paste, cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt, lemon juice and fresh chopped coriander leaves. Add some drops of water to make it crumbled. 

    Divide the dough into small round portions. Roll one portion in round shape to make chapati. Spread the sattu powder mix in center. Seal it inside the dough. Roll again to make a stuffed chapati.

    Now heat a tawa or flat pan, palace the rolled sattu powder stuffed paratha on it. Flip the side after few seconds when the top satrts changing color. Flip again and apply ghee. Flip again and apply ghee this side as well. Cook evenly from both the sides till brown spots appear.

    Repeat the process for rest of the dough.

    Sattu Paratha is ready. Serve it hot with pickle and tea.
