Pancakes are kids favorite, specially with honey and chocolate syrup. Grown up also like pancakes. It is a very simple and quick dish which is healthy, full of taste and very quick to make. Usually pancakes are prepared using all purpose flour / maida but I always replace maida / all purpose flour with whole wheat flour.

Oats Honey Pancake is a very delicious and very healthy dish. Generally pancakes recipe have egg as a main ingredient. We can also prepare pancakes without eggs as well.

Oats Honey Pancake needs a little preparation before making batter for pancakes. First we should soak oats in milk for 7 - 10 minutes. Soaking oats in milk makes a very smooth batter for pancake. If you want it very quick then quickly grind oats to fine powder and then use it to make pancakes.

There are various versions of pancakes which can be prepared easily and quickly.

Ingredients for Oats Honey Pancake

  • Oats : 2/3 cup
  • Wheat Flour : 1/4 cup
  • Milk : 2/3 cup (add more if required)
  • Baking Powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar : 1 tbsp
  • Salt  : 1 pinch
  • Egg : 1
  • Ghee / butter : 1 tbsp + to cook
  • Honey : 2 tbsp (for garnishing)

    Take rolled oats in a bowl. You can also make powder of oats and then use it in the recipe. Powdered oats will not need to be soaked in milk whereas we should soak rolled oats in milk for some time.


    Now pour milk in this bowl. Mix and keep aside for 10 minutes so that oats are well soaked and make a smooth batter for pancakes. Within 10 minutes, milk will be absorbed by oats and oats will be ready to be used for batter. In case you are using powdered oats, you can directly mix oats powder with all the ingredients and make batter.


    When our oats are kept in milk, we can make other things ready for oats honey pancakes. In a separate bowl, take wheat flour.


    Add baking powder and salt in it. Mix well.


    Add granulated or powdered sugar. We can use white sugar or jaggery powder in it. Also we are using sugar just to add a little sweetness to the batter. The actual sweetness will be from honey. If you wish to use more sugar, you can but then reduce amount of honey on it. Mix well all ingredients together. 


    Break an egg and beat it well. Do not beat it for long time. Just beat it for 30 seconds so that yolk is not seen separate.

    Now when oats are ready, mix wheat flour mix in it. Add beaten egg in it. Mix well.

    Mix well all the ingredients so that a smooth batter is ready. Now add ghe or butter in it. Mix well. Our batter for Oats Honey Pancakes is ready.

    Heat a tawa / skillet. Sprinkle some ghee / oil on it. When it is hot, pour a ladle full batter on it and let it spread itself. Cook pancakes on low flames. If we cook pancakes on high flames, it is cooked from outside but remains uncooked from inside.

    Check when you see brown spots appearing on bottom side. Now flip the side.

    Cook again till both the sides are evenly cooked. Now take a knife and insert it inside pancake, if it comes out clean then oats honey pancake is ready. Keep this aside and repeat the process for rest of the batter.

    Oats Honey Pancakes are ready. Spread honey over and serve hot.
