Garlic Chutney Recipe | How to make Garlic Chutney

Garlic Chutney or Lahsun Chutney , again a very simple no cooking chutney. In North Indian  cuisine chutney is not cooked. It is just a paste of raw veggies/ greens and aromatic spice. Lahsun Chutney or Garlic Chutney is no exception. In Haryana this chutney is prepared almost every alternate in winter. People there like to eat chapati and chutney as a combination and they can skip sabzi or curry and meal can be only Chapati like missi roti or bajra roti along with this garlic chutney. 

This preparation of Lashun  / garlic chutney is hot and spicy. A lot of whole dry red chili goes into it along with some red chili powder and garlic. 

Beaten yogurt is used to give it a dip texture. Other recipes of lahsun chutney do not have yogurt / curd. it is mostly garlic, red chili and salt. You can always adjust the quantity of red chili in chutney and it is good to go.

Garlic is used in almost all the chutney recipes. There are few other recipes to make garlic and red chili chutney which is often prepared in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. These are very spicy and hot.

Ingredients for Garlic Chutney / Lahsun ki Chutney

  • Garlic Cloves : 5 - 7
  • whole Dry Red Chili : 3 - 4
  • Salt to taste
  • Beaten Yogurt / Curd : 1/4 cup
  • Water :  2 tsp (if required)
  • How to make Garlic Chutney / Lahsun ki Chutney

    Peel the garlic cloves.

    Add peeled garlic cloves, whole red chilies, salt and 1 tsp of water in the blender. Blend to make a thick paste.

    Add blended paste in the yogurt / curd and mix well

    Garlic Chutney (lahsun dahi chutney) is ready. Enjoy it with Missi Roti or bajra roti. It goes well with stuffed aloo paratha and other parathas as well.
