Oats Carrot Raita Recipe | How to make Oats Carrot Raita

Raita is a healthy and tasty side to go along with any Indian menu whether it is Rice menu or it is Chapati / paratha menu. Mostly we prepare raita with yogurt combining with veggies. These veggies can be used raw or can be used partly cooked like boiled  or sauté. Oats Carrot Raita is a perfect mix of health and taste. 

Oats are healthy and loaded with fiber. Combining oats in yogurt to make raita is even best. Oats provide protein, essential minerals and vitamins and come with antioxidants. In the recipe of Oats Carrot raita, we are using roasted powdered oats. You may call it Oats ka Sattu !

Carrot is a tasty salad / vegetable and makes a good combination in raita of Oats. In this recipe , I have used raw grated carrot. We can use partly boiled carrot or sautéed carrot as well to make OAts Carrot Raita.

Apart from carrot , other veggies that can be combined with Oats to make Raita like cucumber, beetroot, cabbage, capsicum and onion as well.

    Recipe Details : Oats Carrot Raita

    Ingredients for Oats Carrot Raita

  • Yogurt :2 tbsp
  • Grated Carrot : 2 tbsp
  • Oats  : 1 tbsp
  • Rock Salt as per taste
  • Mint Leaves : 4 - 5 (crushed)
  • Roasted Cumin powder : 1 tsp
  • Water : as required
  • How to make Oats Carrot Raita

    Dry roast oats and make a fine powder. Keep aside. Here roasting time depends on the variety of oats used. In case of Instant oats, roasting time may be only one minute but other options like oat meal or  porridge oats it may be more. 

    We should not roast oats to brown, instead we keep it lightly roasted. Once it is roasted and cooled , make powder of it. This roasted oats powder can be stored and used in other Oats recipes as well. 

    In a bowl, beat yogurt. Now add grated carrot and roasted oats powder in it.

    Mix all the ingredients well till it is smooth consistency. Add crushed mint leaves and rock salt.  

    Add water for the desired consistency. You may keep it thick consistency  which can be eaten with spoon or can make it thin as drinkable. Mix all ingredients well. Add roasted cumin powder.

    Oats carrot raita is ready. Have it with any favorite dish of yours.
